Bernard Parker Thinks Kaizer Chiefs Are Favourites For The MTN8

Kaizer Chiefs forward, Bernard Parker, says he's happy to have finally got 90 minutes under his belt for Kaizer Chiefs, but admitted that he's still lacking a bit of match sharpness.

Last season's PSL top scorer played a full game in the 2-1 win over University of Pretoria for the first time following his ankle surgery a few months back, and while he didn't manage to get on the scoresheet, he says that he's very happy to come back into a winning team.

Speaking to the media at Naturena this week, Parker said, "It feels good to be back, especially seeing as the team is winning, but I do feel like I'm lacking some sharpness. I'm fit, and glad I lasted the 90 minutes, but the sharpness isn't there and it's key to the way that we play. We move forward quickly and press a lot in defence, so hopefully more game time will improve my sharpness."

Meanwhile, when asked for his thoughts on the weekend's Soweto Derby in the MTN8 final, he says that he thinks the Amakhosi are favourites for the game.

The 28-year-old added, "As Kaizer Chiefs our confidence is very high. We've won every game since the start of the season and I think we're going into this game as favourites.

"We're much better than we've been before, but Pirates are a hard-running, physical, energetic team. I'm sure our coach can apply the right tactics and I'm sure the game is all about ourselves. If we're mentally prepared then we can come out on top.

"If we play the Kaizer Chiefs way then, as has been proven this season, we will win games."
