Kaizer Chiefs striker, Bernard Parker, has praised his Orlando Pirates counterpart, Kermit Erasmus, saying that it's about time he showed his quality on the field.
Parker, who completed 90 minutes against University of Pretoria this past weekend, says that the Buccaneers forward, who has five goals in nine matches this season, will be their 'danger man' in the upcoming MTN8 final, but admits that the Amakhosi are focusing more on their own game than their opponent's.
Talking to the media this week, the 28-year-old said, "Mentally, if we focus on the hype of the derby it may disturb us a little, so we need to keep doing what we're doing now if we want to come out on top."
When asked about the strengths of their opponents, Parker explained, "Pirates' full backs add an extra player in the attack, and their wingers are very skilful. They're strong down the sides and have good strikers.
"I'm happy for Kermit, it's about time he showed his quality. He's at a good team and he's doing well. I think he'll be their danger man."
Given the current form of Mandla Masango and George Maluleka, it remains to be seen whether Parker will be given a starting berth in Durban this weekend, but Stuart Baxter will no doubt be happy to have him back in contention following a lengthy injury lay-off.
