Benni McCarthy: We Have To Bring Our AA Game Against Bidvest Wits

Cape Town City head coach, Benni McCarthy, is aware that his side will have a big challenge on their hands in order to get a result against Bidvest Wits.

The Mother City-based club secured a 1-0 win over Polokwane City in the quarterfinals of the MTN8 competition, McCarthy's first victory at the helm of the team.

The Citizens will now travel away to face Wits on Friday, August, 19, in their first Absa Premiership clash of the 2017/18 campaign and speaking after City's win at the Cape Town Stadium last Saturday, August 12, McCarthy believes that his side will need to bring their A-game to try and get a positive result over the defending league champions.

"They (Wits) are not the champions for nothing, you see, two-nil down with 10 men, they still managed to win that game (against Golden Arrows in the MTN8) so that just shows you about their character. But, it's because they've got, for me, the best coach in the league," McCarthy told media at a post-match press conference last weekend.

"So, we are going to have to bring out AA game if we want to get something against Wits because they are experienced, they are a big side. But, I think we will be prepared for Wits and they won't have Hunty on the bench so I don't have to face coach," he added.

Wits will be without Gavin Hunt on the bench on Friday, after the fourth official instructed the head coach to move to the stands during the team's MTN8 clash against Golden Arrows.
