GladAfrica Championship Wrap

In the GladAfrica Championship, Jomo Cosmos and Polokwane City recorded victories over Steenberg United and Sekhukhune United respectively, while TS Sporting drew 1-1 with Cape Town All Stars.

In addition, there were wins for JDR Stars and Free State Stars.

A ten-man Ezenkosi grabbed their third win and eleventh point, thanks to a brace from Moeketsi Sekola, the only goals of the game.

This was Steenberg's fourth loss and according to a source at the ground, six of their players were in isolation having tested positive for Covid-19 – a fact later confirmed by an insider!

At the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, Puleng Tlolane netted the winner for Rise and Shine around the 30th minute, which happened to be their third 1-0 win.

Although Babina Noko tried to compete, it wasn't their day.

Cosmos and unbeaten Polokwane are neck and neck on eleven points each, although the Limpopo side does have a game in hand.

Igugu Lekapa, another side still clinging on to their unbeaten record, are three points behind, level with Uthongathi FC, who could only muster a goalless draw with rookies, Bizana Pondo Chiefs.

Dylan Dean's side took the lead with an own goal before Abantu Bemthetho made it all square via a spot kick from Percyvell Nkabinde.

The Hammer Boys, who were first out of the blocks with Vusimuzi Mncube's successful chip, overpowered Pretoria Callies 2-0.

Later, Temptation Chiwunga smacked home a penalty, his fourth of the campaign.

University of Pretoria missed the chance to go top after succumbing 1-0 to Allan Freese's Ea Lla Koto.

Katlego Mkhabela was Stars' hero after heading home a corner, while in another encounter, Richards Bay FC and Royal AM drew 1-1.

The much anticipated Cape derby between Cape United and Cape Town Spurs had to be called off due to the Covid-19 scourge.
