GladAfrica Championship Wrap

GladAfrica Championship Wrap

The GladAfrica Championship produced more surprises when JDR Stars and Royal AM hammered Cape United and Free State Stars 3-1 respectively, while Jomo Cosmos lost 1-0 at home to Uthongathi FC.

In addition, Richards Bay smashed four past Cape Town Spurs, Sekhukhune United easily beat Steenberg United 3-1 and University of Pretoria were undone 1-0 by Polokwane City - which means the top three clubs all lost!

The Hammer Boys finally got their show on the road by netting all three goals at the Giant Stadium within the opening 40 minutes, through Temptation Chiwunga (penalty), Bafana Kali and Sipho Zwane.

This was a first loss for the Spirited Ones, for whom Roscoe Petersen scored but they still go into the Christmas break as log leaders.

Royal AM also grabbed their opening victory against a lack-luster Ea Lla Koto, who've conceded 8 goals in 5 games.

A deserved brace from Sedwyn George coupled with Sibusiso Masina's single effort helped the KZN outfit to secure a fifth point, while Stars are stuck on just two.

Ezenkosi's unbeaten record tumbled after the Cane Cutters' Tshepo Chaine hit an early winner that leaves both sides level-pegged on seven points each.

Sammy Troughton's Pretoria Callies secured a valuable away point during a tight-fought 1-1 draw with TS Sporting in Kabokweni with Aupa Moeketsi on target for the visitors and Decide Chauke levelling matters.

Cape Town All Stars, with successful efforts from Dillan Solomons and Ndiviwe Mdabuka, gave Bizana Pondo Chiefs something to think about in their survival quest.

This 2-0 win lifted All Stars above a number of clubs, whereas Chiefs are rock bottom.

The Natal Rich Boyz showed the Urban Warriors no mercy during a 4-1 routing, which could end Vladislav Heric's reign as coach.

Khanyiso Mayo (2), Mabuya Lwandle and Thabo Maphakisa did the damage.

Babina Noko brought Steenberg back to earth courtesy of goals from MacClive Phiri, Bongumusa Dlamini and Prince Nxumalo.
