CAF Champions League
Teams: Kaizer Chiefs v Horoya
Date: 23 February 2021
Venue: FNB Stadium
Kaizer Chiefs will finally open their CAF Champions League Group C campaign when they host Horoya on Tuesday evening at FNB Stadium.
The match will get underway at 18h00.
Chiefs were set to kickstart their campaign away to Wydad Casablanca on February 13 but their fixture with the Moroccan side was postponed due to visa issues.
Amakhosi got to this stage for the first time in their history after first beating PWD Bamenda 1-0 on aggregate in the preliminary round, before overcoming Primeiro de Agosto in the first round.
The Glamour Boys confirmed that three players, Happy Mashiane, Dumisani Zuma and Eric Mathoho have joined Khama Billiat in the treatment table and will not be available for this clash while Kgotso Moleko has been excused to attend a family matter.
On the other hand, Horoya had a perfect start in the group after beating Petro de Luanda 2-0 on 13 February and currently top the pool with three points.
The sides will be meeting for the first time although Horoya have played against Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates in the group phase of the competition between 2018 and 2019, while they also battled Bidvest Wits last season in the CAF Confederation Cup group stages with Gavin Hunt as the coach.
Chiefs XI: Khune, Mphahlele, Ngezana, Agay, Frosler, Katsande, Baccus, Ngcobo, Parker, Castro, Nurkovic
Subs: Akpeyi, Kambole, Blom, Sasman, Manyama, Zulu.
