Teams: Maritzburg United v Cape Town City
Date: 31 January 2020
Venue: Harry Gwala Stadium
Cape Town City will be eyeing a spot in the top eight when they visit Maritzburg United in the Absa Premiership on Friday evening.
The Citizens eased their relegation fears by winning back-to-back league games for the first time this season after beating Bidvest Wits and Black Leopards recently.
Jan Olde Riekerink's charges are now six points clear of the drop zone after edging Lidoda Duvha 1-0 last Friday after moving up to 10th position.
Meanwhile, the Team of Choice saw their seven-game unbeaten run come to an end after losing 2-1 to Baroka last Sunday.
Despite sitting in sixth place on the log, Maritzburg are far from securing a top eight spot, as they are just two points away from the bottom half of the table - with the likes of Golden Arrows, Cape Town City, Highlands Park and Chippa United all vying for a top eight finish.
Maritzburg won the reverse fixture 1-0 in October last year thanks to a lone goal by Thabiso Kutumela at Cape Town Stadium.
