Mamelodi Sundowns are believed to be preparing a new offer for goalkeeper Reyaad Pieterse.
Pieterse's contract with the DStv Premiership champion-select is due to expire in June, after the club exercised the two previous options they had in his deal. Now they have to agree on a new contract altogether and the Siya crew has been led to believe that the Chloorkop-based outfit is more than happy to continue with the former Kaizer Chiefs shot-stopper on their books.
Pieterse has been serving as second-choice goalkeeper in recent times, and at times third-choice with Ronwen Williams in goal as the number one and Denis Onyango deputising for him.
The former SuperSport United player has made only three appearances in all competitions this season, but it's understood that he has been encouraged by the fact that he has been featuring in the matchday squad more than he did during the first half of the campaign.
In 2023, the lanky netminder has been in the Brazilians' matchday squad seven times and recently got an opportunity to play 90 minutes when the Tshwane giants were held to a 1-1 draw by Stellenbosch FC.
While nothing is finalised at this stage, Soccer Laduma understands that there is a good chance that the two parties will reach an agreement for the goalkeeper to stay at the club beyond the end of this season.
The 31-year-old joined Sundowns in 2018 on a three-plus two-year contract, and the club want to continue to have him on board to ensure they have adequate support for Williams.
