Mamelodi Sundowns' new multimillion-rand recruit Kegan Johannes has been warned about the competitive nature of life as a Brazilian.

SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews earlier this week confirmed that Sundowns' offer for Johannes was too good to turn down and that he would have accepted a similar bid, had it come from elsewhere within the Premiership.
Now that the ink has dried and the Bafana Bafana international has joined his new teammates in training, Johannes had been sent a warning by his former teammate, Lyle Lakay.
Lakay walked a similar road to Johannes and was slapped with the reality of the revolving door at Sundowns when he was sent out on loan by the club a season after winning PSL Defender of the Season.
"I listened to his interview with the Sundowns podcast and he said one of the reasons why he joined was the culture and the winning mentality and that rubs off on you quickly at Sundowns," he told journalists at MultiChoice City.

"If you are pulling the one way and the rest of the guys are pulling a different way, the first time they will correct you - but after the second time if you're not pulling with them, they'll leave you and the train moves and you get left behind.
"But I think Kegan is a hard worker and that is all you need. You need to have belief in yourself and faith. They said faith without work is dead. If I have faith in something but I don't work hard, then it's no use. He has to work hard like he's supposed to and he will succeed. I'm confident about it," Lakay added.
