Pitso Mosimane has congratulated Ernst Middendorp for a job well done with Kaizer Chiefs this season.
The Mamelodi Sundowns head coach may or may not be playing mind-games with the German mentor, but he has come out to say that Middendorp deserves to win the title with Amakhosi, as they've been at the top of the Absa Premiership standings since August 2019.
However, Chiefs now only lead the log with a superior goal-difference of three.
"For personally, I want to congratulate coach (Ernst) Middendorp for the work done," Mosimane told the media.
"I hope I am not misunderstood by talking about the title. It is for the work done for the year, I think he did very well, the team got a shock therapy sort of, and he put through his methodology and his philosophy and if anyone wants to say it is not the best philosophy then why are they sitting top of the log?"
"We had our jabs me and him right through the year, but I think where we are right now, what can I say, it is like in boxing, when boxers finish the fight, before the fight, there are always talks, always media-hyping conversations so I think he understands, we are all professionals and now the time is done for those things."
"Whoever wins, we shake hands and he knows that I will shake his hand because he was a professional after the match against Kaizer Chiefs, he came and waited to shake my hand and say congratulations."
"If he wins it he deserves it, he has been leading for most of the year and why not I think he also deserves to win his first league title so it is fair enough."
