Latest In Mahlambi's Downs Loan Move

Mamelodi Sundowns, the Siya crew has been told, have added a condition to Phakamani Mahlambi's pending loan move.

The Brazilians are still keen to allow the attacker to get regular game-time elsewhere this season, but want him to sign a contract extension before he can depart.

'Phaka' joined Downs two years ago from Al Ahly for a whopping R13-million and agreed to a five-year deal – but he's not been as consistent as the club would have hoped.

Swallows FC were the first to raise their hand to take the speedster on loan, though it is understood his wages might be a stumbling block if Sundowns aren't willing to subsidise the bulk of that salary.

Kaizer Chiefs are keen, too, but due to the FIFA ban they are only likely to engage in talks with their rivals over Mahlambi next year.

Another delay is around the request to have Mahlambi extent his contract beyond June 2023, and this – insiders have suggested, is what is currently holding up talks over where the player will be spending the 2020/21 season.

Swallows already have one Sundowns player on loan in Sammy Seabi and they are seemingly keen to add Mahlambi to their roster. Anele Ngcongca, Tiyani Mabunda and Wayne Arendse are also some of the names that have been thrown Swallows' way, but there have been no developments yet regarding those talks.

They, too, are surplus to requirements at Chloorkop.
