Currently the Brazilians are being captained by Hlompho Kekana, although he has not seen a lot of game-time so far this season.
Ricardo Nascimento has deputised for him when he's absent, therefore also having the honour to captain a club that has had some of the most notable and influential skippers in the history of the club, like the legendary Daniel 'Mambush' Mudau.
As a forward, Mudau was lethal and is to this day still one of very few players in the Premier Soccer League to have scored more than 100 goals.
He remains part of the club as supporter coordination manager.
A Downs captain that will forever be remembered is the late Samuel 'Ewie' Kambule, who joined the club in 1986 and played there for more than a decade.
Kambule was part of Downs' glorious generations in yesteryears and claimed several trophies with Stanley 'Screamer' Tshabalala as head coach.
He died in 2006 following a short illness.
