After months of speculation over his future at Mamelodi Sundowns, the Siya crew now understands that there has been a breakthrough in contract talks between the club and coach Pitso Mosimane!
'Jingles' has won nine trophies since returning to a team he once played for, taking over as the coach in December 2012 following a rather unsuccessful spell under Dutchman Johan Neeskens – and having to dig them out of possible relegation.
It's come as a surprise to many that Mosimane's contract talks had taken so long with his initial agreement due to expire on June 30.
But there is a breakthrough, with news now that the coach, who has won an unprecedented four Absa Premiership titles during his tenure, is likely to stay at the club beyond the current campaign and that an announcement is imminent.
Mosimane has himself been very vocal about wanting to stay on at the club, telling journalists two months ago that 80 percent of the talks with Downs had been concluded and he was simply waiting on management to do their part.
One of the stumbling blocks to a new deal was understood to be the coach's desire to pursue schools football and help shape the future of South Africa going forward, and with the Siya crew being led to believe that the coach is going nowhere, his requests may no longer be a stumbling block as was the case previously.
'Jingles' said money was never the issue.
The club has said it cannot make any comments in public about Mosimane's contract.
