Charges of domestic violence against a Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana player have been withdrawn, the Siya crew can reveal.
In December, it was reported by the Siya crew that Sundowns midfielder Mothobi Mvala has had a case of domestic violence opened against him by his fiancée Palesa Botipe.
At the time, it was confirmed to the crew that the football star had been expected to appear in court on January 12 on charges of domestic violence after Botipe, who is also the mother of his children, decided to go the legal route to try and stop the alleged abuse.
It was further reported that the matter was being investigated by the Brazilians who are known for not taking issues relating to gender-based violence lightly.
However, the latest information reaching the Siya crew is that Botipe – a teacher by profession, has withdrawn the charges against the football star after her and her partner's families decided to discuss the matter outside of the courts of law.
"We sat down together just before the court case, and it was just me and him (Mvala) who initiated the meeting. We then decided to call both our families and we had a meeting with them. We had to listen to our elders speak and the meeting took hours and hours, and I went back home after the meeting and I thought about my decision," confirmed Botipe, speaking to the Siya crew.
"I am a Christian and I love this man and seeing him so down breaks me more especially if he had to admit to my family about his short temper and bad communication skills, it takes a real man to do that. I drove to Jo'burg in the early hours of Monday and I withdrew the case. I have proof. We are both going for professional help hand in hand. Our daughter as well is seeing a child psychologist," she added.
