A former Kaizer Chiefs defender has explained why he feels the club should extend the contract of Njabulo Ngcobo when it expires at the end of the season.
Ngcobo's three-year deal with Amakhosi is due to expire at the end of June 2024 and it's understood that the club is yet to express a desire to keep him beyond the end of the contract, though there is still a lot of time between now and the end of the season for discussions to happen.

The defender joined Chiefs after winning the DSTV Premiership Defender of the Season award almost three years ago, but it has not been an easy journey for him, with game time proving hard to come by under different coaches, from Stuart Baxter, Arthur Zwane, Molefi Ntseki and now interim mentor Cavin Johnson.
This season, the 29-year-old has made 10 appearances in all competitions, four of which were starts. He has finished all of the games he has started, but he will be looking to feature a lot more in the second half of the campaign to enhance his chances of securing a new deal.
"Ngcobo is one of the natural centre backs that Chiefs have. I hope they can give him another year or two because he still has a lot to do for Chiefs. He has not played much, but he has made an impact whenever he has been given a chance," Tsotetsi said to the Siya crew earlier this week.

"He has improved a lot and I think he understands that playing for Chiefs is not easy. You need to work harder as a player, but I think he still has a lot to offer for Kaizer Chiefs. Hopefully they will give him an extension because he still has a lot to do for Chiefs. He is a natural defender."
