Ranga Chivaviro has been Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi's go-to striker this season, but the mentor's admiration for the burly forward stretches back to his time in Tanzania.
Nabi's faith in the 31-year-old has yielded early results, as the striker has managed two goals in three matches for Amakhosi this season.

The coach, however, was well aware of what Chivaviro could do after facing him in back-to-back CAF Confederation Cup matches in May last year.
Chivaviro managed to get on the scoresheet as Yanga beat Gallants 4-1 on aggregate, which saw Nabi look to him as a replacement for the Pyramids-bound Fiston Mayele at the time.
"I had Fiston Mayele at the time, but I knew he was going to leave. We were looking for a replacement and in the CAF [Confederation Cup] we played against Marumo Gallants. I think that is why Kaizer Chiefs signed him, because his agent said that he is going to Tanzania," Nabi quirked.
"Ranga has progressed a lot but he needs work. He needs more confidence and specific work when it comes to his finishing. But I think he needs another striker to compete with him so that his level can improve," he added.
Chiefs have revealed their rigorous plans to rope in a striker in the January transfer window, where they will use the next three months to scour the continent - and abroad - for the perfect candidate to provide competition for Chivaviro.
