New Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has taken a pragmatic approach in his first interaction with the South African media since his appointment, emphasizing his commitment to building a successful team without resorting to making empty promises to appease supporters.

During his first media briefing, Nabi, speaking through an interpreter, expressed satisfaction with the team's pre-season performance in Turkey and outlined his vision for the club.

"I don't just want to make promises and be popular with supporters by saying what they want to hear. We have to have the right strategy in how we do things and we will fight hard from this season going forward to win trophies. We know it's not good for a big team like Kaizer Chiefs to have gone for such a long time without winning a trophy," Nabi observed.

The coach acknowledged the high expectations from the fans and the pressure to return the club to winning ways.

"We understand that the supporters are tired of the promises that come every season and nothing happens. We want to build a team that can be sustained this season both in South Africa and Africa. I am not making excuses but we will fight for the three points in every game. We have a good squad of players and we have to use these players with other experienced players who will help. Above all, we have to give these players the right opportunity and space to improve and do the best for the team in getting results," Nabi concluded.

Nabi's approach reflects a shift towards transparency and accountability, focusing on strategic planning and hard work rather than mere rhetoric. His leadership comes at a crucial time for Kaizer Chiefs, a club with a rich history and a demanding fan base hungry for success.

The coach's first test on South African soil will be a significant one, as Kaizer Chiefs face Yanga SC in the Toyota Cup at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein this Sunday.
