Nabi: No Time To Prepare For Sundowns

Nabi: No Time To Prepare For Sundowns

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has bemoaned the timing of his side's mammoth Betway Premiership clash against Mamelodi Sundowns this weekend.

For a side who have just collected two wins on the trot, one would think facing defending champions Sundowns on Saturday would be a welcomed fixture for Amakhosi to continue their rich vein of form.

However, for the club's Tunisian mentor, he says he would have liked more than just two days to prepare his troops for the match, ideally on the training pitch than inside a meeting room.

Chiefs are fresh from playing AmaZulu in Durban on Wednesday, a match they won 3-1, and will travel to Johannesburg on Thursday, where they will shift their focus to their encounter against the Brazilians.

"[The match] is less than 48 hours and according to FIFA, it shouldn't be possible to play in such a short time. I would like to have more time to prepare tactically and strategically to face such a great team," he told members of the media.

"Because the tactics of AmaZulu are not the same as Sundowns. If you prepare your game at a professional level, you need time to prepare. My tactics for today's [Wednesday's] game is different from the one against Sundowns.

"I need time to train on the field instead of just motivating my players for the match. Tomorrow [Thursday], we fly to Johannesburg, just one day before the game. I don't have time to prepare my team very well tactically. It wasn't possible for me to focus on the game against Sundowns, when we had to face AmaZulu.

"But it's not an excuse, we will go 200% because we are Kaizer Chiefs, even though I would have liked to have more time to prepare for this match because Sundowns are one of the greatest teams in Africa. We are playing at home, and we will play to win. We have massive respect for Sundowns, but we prefer to play them after we've had enough time to prepare," he said.

Kick off for the match is at 15:00pm at FNB Stadium on Saturday.
