Defensive Mastermind Ramovic Touted For Chiefs Rebuild

Among the potential candidates, pundit Mark Haskins has highlighted TS Galaxy boss Sead Ramovic as a fitting choice to lead Amakhosi.

Ramovic's impressive tenure at TS Galaxy, steering them to a record-breaking fifth-place standing at the moment, has not gone unnoticed, positioning him alongside other notable candidates for the coveted position.

Ramovic, a German-born tactician of Bosnian descent, has made a significant impact since his arrival in South Africa in the middle of the 2021/22 season.

Despite having no prior experience on the continent, his assistant role at Serbian club Novi Pazar in 2015 laid the groundwork for his successful adaptation to South African football. Under his guidance, TS Galaxy have undergone a remarkable transformation, particularly this season, with the team not only reaching the final of the Carling Knockout but also consistently performing well in the league.

Haskins, speaking to Sports Night Amplified with Andile, praised Ramovic's approach to the game, especially his focus on building a strong defensive foundation.

"Sead Ramovic, I think he has really grown into the league. I think he has become acclimatized to South African football and has done really well. I love a coach who understands for me, and maybe it's a bit of biased but it's my thinking as well that you build a team from the back and he has been very solid defensively," Haskins told Sports Night Amplified with Andile.

"He has this season one of the best defensive records in the league so you don't concede you can't lose so Chiefs need to rebuild and they need to establish themselves as a solid presence in the country and so I think he is someone who can do that.

"He knows the league well, he knows the fans well, I think he has acclimatized well," Haskins said.

He further emphasized the importance of a solid defence, suggesting that Ramovic's defensive strategy could be key to rebuilding Chiefs as a dominant force in South African football again. Despite not being a household name as a player, Ramovic's football career saw him turning out for notable European clubs, including Borussia Monchengladbach, Vfl Wolfsburg, Sivasspor, and Lillestrom.

As Chiefs weigh their options for the head coach position, Ramovic's understanding of the league, his defensive acumen, and his ability to adapt and thrive in South African football make him a compelling choice.

With Amakhosi looking to reclaim their status as a powerhouse in the country, the appointment of a coach with Ramovic's credentials would not be a bad choice based on those attributes.
