Kaizer Jnr: Different Technical Structure & 'Massive Disappointment'

Kaizer Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jnr discussed the club's struggles on Thursday.

Kaizer Jnr was attending Luke Fleurs' memorial service when he spoke to Prime Sports With Mahlatse about management's disappointment in how this season has transpired on the field of play.

After losing two games in a row, Amakhosi are now in eighth place in the PSL and are out of the Nedbank Cup which is in the last eight round this weekend.

"It's a massive disappointment for the football club. Our job is to win matches and put smiles on people's faces and to achieve success so nobody is happy," Motaung Jnr told Prime Sports With Mahlatse

Pressure has increased on interim coach Cavin Johnson, and the club is focusing on finding a new permanent coach and how to complement them with the right players.

"We are working tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure we elevate the football club, to like you spoke (of the) brand status.

"So, we are very much aware of what's happening in this moment in time, what we need to do."

In what has been a very sad week for Chiefs, one of their new signings Fleurs passed away after being shot in a hijacking in Johannesburg recently.

"I think we are just honouring this moment through the respect it deserves and we are of course need to take this club to where it belongs and we know which direction to go," Motaung Jnr concluded.

Elsewhere, Motaung Jnr to the local media that the club will definitely bring in a new coach for the start of the 2024-25 season.

"Definitely," Motaung Jnr answered, as reported by The Citizen.

"We communicated from the onset that Cavin would be there on an interim basis, and there will very much be a different technical structure next season."

There Motaung Jnr has hinted that a new coach will come in with his own assistants which is very different to how Chiefs have operated in the past.

Chiefs' next assignment will be against relegation-threatened Richards Bay on Sunday, 21 April.
