Chiefs In Danger Of Doing Worse Than They Did Under Zwane

Chiefs In Danger Of Doing Worse Than They Did Under Zwane

With eight games left in the DSTV Premiership, Kaizer Chiefs are in danger of doing worse than they did under Arthur Zwane if their form does not improve.

Earlier this week, Amakhosi were handed their eighth defeat of the league season at Stellenbosch FC at FNB Stadium, as the tough times at Naturena continued. This threatens to be an even more disappointing season than the one they had with Zwane last season. Soccer Laduma looks at how Chiefs are in danger of doing worse than they did last term.

POINTS

Last season, with Zwane at the helm, Amakhosi finished the campaign on 44 points. Currently on 30 points after 22 matches, the Soweto giants are 14 points away from last season's tally, but their concerning form might make it difficult for them to go past this number in this campaign. As things stand, Amakhosi have registered just one victory in six of their Premiership matches in 2024 and go into the final eight fixtures needing to win at least four to get closer to their points tally of last season.

WINS

Last season, Amakhosi had 13 victories in 30 matches. To match that number this term, they need to win at least five of their remaining eight matches of the season. With the club struggling to get consistent victories throughout the campaign, it's hard to see how the Soweto giants will achieve this.

GOALS

At the moment, Amakhosi are scoring at less than a goal a game, with 19 goals netted in 22 fixtures. Last season, they finished the season with 32 goals, so it means they would need to score at just under 2 goals a game to surpass . Looking at how much they are struggling in front of upfront right now, one wonders where the goals will come from.

DEFEATS

Amakhosi are just four defeats from matching last season's 12 losses. The 12 defeats they suffered last term was the worst in PSL history for Amakhosi and they would definitely not want to match or surpass it them this season.
