Kaizer Chiefs Have Lodged An Appeal After FIFA's Verdict And Their Transfer Ban

As things stand, Kaizer Chiefs will not be able to sign any new players in the next two transfer windows, but they're taking steps to change that…

Chiefs had 21 days to appeal FIFA's judgement regarding their 2018 signing of Andriamirado 'Dax' Andrianarimanana from Fosa Juniors, with football's governing body opting to ban them from signings for two windows, while the player himself is not allowed to play for four months.

As reported in this week's issue of Soccer Laduma, the Siya crew has been informed that an appeal has been lodged by both the club and the player as they look to have their punishment reduced or thrown out altogether, though it remains to be seen how long the process could take.

Regarding Chiefs' punishment at the time, FIFA's document said, "Respondent II, Kaizer Chiefs FC, shall be banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, for the two next entire and consecutive registration periods following the notification of the present decision."

Meanwhile, player's sanction read as follows, "A restriction of four months on his eligibility to play in official matches is imposed on the Respondent I, Andriamirado Aro Hasina Andrianarimanana. This sanction applies with immediate effect as of the date of notification of the present decision.

"The sporting sanction shall remain suspended in the period between the last official match of the season and the first official match of the next season, in both cases including national cups and FIFA international championships for clubs."

The involved parties were required to lodge their appeals with the Court of Arbitration for Sport directly, which they did before the 21-day deadline, and now have to wait and see whether they will be successful or not.
