After a slow start to the season under new management, a talented midfielder has fought his way back into contention at one of South Africa's biggest clubs, convincing the technical team to secure his services for an additional year beyond his current deal.
The player, once considered for a potential loan move, has apparently shown enough quality to warrant a longer stay at Kaizer Chiefs as the club looks to build around their homegrown talent.

As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, Amakhosi were looking at loaning out some of their other players and this midfielder was one of them on that list but now his future at the club seems clearer.
Insiders close to the club have indicated that Chiefs are believed to be exercising Nkosingiphile Ngcobo's one-year option until June 2027.
"The club values Mshini as one of their best players. Yes, it's true there were some setbacks at the start of the season which included a minor injury and the coach apparently not understanding his style of play but all that is behind him and that's why the club is believed to be happy to exercise his one-year option though his initial contract already runs until June 2026. This means his new contract should now run until June 2027," the source disclosed to the Siya crew.

Meanwhile a second insider stated that the club is looking at keeping as many development graduates as they can at the team.
"Now they are looking at building that Kaizer Chiefs culture and philosophy using mostly their own development products and that's why they are not only set to keep Mduduzi Shabalala and him, Ngcobo but they are apparently set to promote a number of those who have been doing well in the DDC team like Aden McCarthy and Sifiso Timba as well, and others. So exercising the Ngcobo option is just testimony to that," the second insider told Soccer Laduma.
Mshini, as Ngcobo is affectionately known, was promoted to the senior team in 2017 and this season the 25-year-old has featured in a fair amount of Betway Premiership games.

Soccer Laduma contacted Chiefs for comment but there was no response at the time of publishing.
This contract decision signals a significant vote of confidence in Ngcobo's abilities and potential, following Chiefs' Nedbank Cup triumph. As the club prepares for continental football next season, retaining technically gifted players like "Mshini" appears central to their strategy.
For Ngcobo personally, this extension provides stability and affirms that his patience and persistence during challenging periods has ultimately been rewarded.
