Dove took a leaf out of his teammate Sifiso Hlanti's book on Sunday as he managed to keep the Egyptian attacker quiet in their 2-2 draw.
It was reminiscent of Hlanti's performance for Bafana Bafana in the 2019 last 16 clash, where he too managed to silence the Liverpool number 11, in Bafana Bafana's quarter final clash against the Pharaohs.
Speaking to Chiefs' official website after the match, the 29-year-old revealed that they had a plan on how to neutralize Salah and his teammates, as they earned a well-deserved point.
"We had a game plan, and our coach gave us instructions on how to defend as a team. It was mostly about us; how we must operate as a unit in defence and attack," he said.
"Obviously, we wanted to take all three points, but in the end, a draw is still a positive outcome and now our focus shifts to our two remaining games."
Dove was utilised in a familiar left centre back position, a role he is expected to carry out in his nation's next match against a tricky Cape Verde on Friday, 19 January.
