Talking English: Will Chiefs Understand Nabi?

Concerns about communication barriers for Kaizer Chiefs' head coach Nasreddine Nabi, who used a translator during his first press conference in South Africa, have been addressed by Siya insiders close to the coach.

Despite using a translator in formal settings, sources have indicated that Nabi's proficiency in English is more than adequate for direct communication with his players and staff.

Speaking to Soccer Laduma, insiders added that while Nabi is Tunisian-born and can speak French too, his English communication skills are good, especially during training sessions.

"Most of the time he communicates in English. His English is very good. Anyone who hears and understands English will hear him. So, with the players it's not hard at all. He even has one on one sessions with the players without interpreters and they speak in English. Yes, I understand at times maybe when it's a long interview or press conference he may need an interpreter just to be at ease but with the team and the players and the whole management he speaks English and the communication is just very good," the Siya source stated.

This sentiment was echoed by one of the Amakhosi players, who spoke on condition of anonymity, affirming that Nabi's command of English is effective for their interactions.

"I don't think there is any problem with communication. Whether it's at training or during a game. The coach is fluent in English and as players we understand him very well. You know that football is a universal sport and it has a universal language which we can all understand. That's what is happening and no one can complain or has ever complained about lack of communication with the coach. We are all good and he is happy with all of us as well," the Chiefs player told the Siya crew.

These assurances highlight that while Nabi may opt for a translator during more formal or extended public speaking engagements to ensure clarity and comfort, his ability to communicate directly with his team in English is unimpeded. This effective communication is crucial for maintaining harmony and understanding within the squad, allowing Nabi to implement his strategies and build strong relationships with his players.
