Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi was quick to defend himself against the media for asking if he is still the right man for the Amakhosi job, even though he is well on course to leading the Soweto giants to possibly their worst ever campaign in PSL history.
Nabi has mentioned time and again that they are in a building phase, but there appears to be no firm foundation at the moment, with just eight victories in 26 matches. Out of a possible 78 points, Amakhosi have collected 30 and have two matches to play this season.

Amakhosi suffered their 12th defeat of the season on Saturday, going down to Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby despite taking an early lead through attacker Glody Lilepo.
During the press conference, a journalist asked Nabi if he thinks he is still the right man for the job and what gives him confidence that he can turn things around. He immediately went on the defensive, which is something his side could not do after taking a lead within the first five minutes at FNB Stadium.
"Normally, I wouldn't answer the question, but I am going to answer it. I don't think you are the right man to decide if I am staying or if I am not. My role and why I am here, everyone knows that this is a process. In terms of process, we can't expect immediate results," the Tunisian said via his assistant coach and translator Cedric Kaze.
Nabi then decided to address the media himself, without a translator.
"I come here for the process. My first press conference, I told jouralists it's a transition season. If we are in process, you don't ask me why you stay here because of results. Don't provoke me because I am not a younger coach. I have big experience. Because it's not respect to tell me you have bad result, why you stay here? Talk with me tactical, talk to me all process. I am not nervous. I respect you."

The numbers, though, do not back what Nabi is saying. Amakhosi are having a dismal and are actually no better than they were last season or the campaign before that.
They've played 17 league matches in 2025 and have registered just four wins. During this period, they've kept just five clean sheets. Only four clubs in the league have conceded more than 30 goals and Chiefs is one of them. He's matched the club's worst number of loses in a season, 12, and there's no telling what more could happen in the final two matches of the campaign.
