Kaizer Chiefs' Marketing Director Jessica Motaung says Khanyisa Mayo was keen on making a switch to Amakhosi, despite the Glamour Boys narrowly missing out on the striker.
Chiefs' pursuit of Mayo has been far from secret. Amakhosi zoned in on the former Cape Town City man, and nearly got him, were it not for CR Belouizdad to seal the deal and secure his transfer to North Africa for a fee believed to be in the region of R18 million.

While they continue to look for a striker to bolster their attack, Motaung said that the player wanted to represent the famous Gold and Black.
"It's also nice when you get a player who really wants to play for you," Motaung told Radio 2000.
"He really wanted to play for us and it's unfortunate that they [his management and his team] had a vision to have him play overseas," she added.
Chiefs have been quite active in the recent transfer window, roping in the likes of Rushwin Dortley, Fiacre Ntwari, Bongani Sam, Inacio Miguel, Njabulo Blom, Bradley Cross and Gaston Sirino, while there are a few more new faces expected at Naturena before the season begins.
