Just as they did with Giovanni Solinas and Ernst Middendorp, coach Gavin Hunt negotiated a three-month settlement for his Kaizer Chiefs exit.
Following his sacking by Amakhosi last week Friday, the Siya crew has been informed that Hunt, who still had two more years to run on his contract with the Glamour Boys, agreed to the termination with a pay-out worth a figure in the region of just under R2.5-million.
Indication are that this is standard practice at Naturena.
Two previous coaches before Hunt were reported to have also negotiated a three-month settlement having also been released from their contracts early.
Solinas was appointed Chiefs coach in July 2018 on a two-year deal with an option to have it extended by another season.
But the Italian was sent packing five months later and understood to have been paid his salary for three months as a settlement amount. Middendorp took his place in December that same year, putting pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year agreement.
The two parties mutually decided to separate at the end of the 2019/20 season despite the German still having another season left.
He was also paid a three-month settlement, the Siya crew was informed then.
Hunt's pay-out is a relatively small figure in comparison to the total value of the what the remainder of the two year contact was worth, which would have been close to a whopping R20 million. That's not what he got.
It's thought coaches were not necessarily on the same wage structure during their respective tenure, but it's Chiefs' standard practice to negotiate a three-month pay-out.
Stuart Baxter is expected to take over from Hunt.
