Haskins acknowledges the sentiment behind the decision but raises his point about the potential ramifications for other legendary figures associated with the club.
"The sentiment is great and you can understand the reasons and they are met and he explains beautifully why they are taking this decision," Haskins told Sports Night Amplified with Andile.
"But again, you are setting a precedent and when I think about it, I don't know anything other than, how many jerseys at Chiefs are retired? I think 15 are retired. That's my thing, and so, like again… like a precedent is set.
"And you're opening up a can of worms in terms of previous legends of the club who probably maybe felt their jerseys should be retired, there are legends of the club who are late, obviously the circumstances are very different.
"But maybe there would've been a different way to honour his memory because he wasn't seen on the field and you can understand the reasons but it's a tough one," Haskins pointed out.
Haskins suggests that there could have been alternative ways to honour Fleurs' memory without retiring his jersey.
