A former Kaizer Chiefs striker has joined Motsepe Foundation Championship newcomers MM Platinum, famously known as La Masia, the Siya crew can reveal.
The striker is the second ex-Amakhosi development player to pen a deal with La Masia after midfielder Ayanda Rorwan.
La Masia, set to compete in their first season as a fully-fledged professional side, forming part of the 32-team make up of the Premier Soccer League, have continued to beef up their squad with the acquisition of Reamohetse 'Shimi' Lekoatsa.
Lekoatsa has put pen to paper on a one-year deal with an option to extend for a further year with La Masia, who are the 2022 ABC Motsepe League national champions after they defeated Magesi 1-0 at Olen Park Stadium most recently.
The 24-year-old was at his best in the 2017/18 season as he inspired Chiefs to the Diski Shield success. He walked away with the Golden Boot award with seven goals to his name.
Lekoatsa, who also had stints at Baberwa and Tembisa Hollywood Thunder in the fourth-tier league, has admitted that he has failed to live up to his billing as a promising talent with massive potential to be a superstar.
However, instead of wallowing in self-pity, the striker from Soweto is putting the past where it belongs and focusing on making the best use of the latest opportunity to display his talent.
"I am delighted that I have joined La Masia, and I am grateful for the opportunity as I have been working extremely even when it was tough; I kept on putting in the work and had faith that a team would see me and La Masia have given me a platform to revive my career and showcase my talent," Lekoatsa told the Siya crew.
"I'm also pleased with La Masia's style of play, with is similar to the style we used at Chiefs under Arthur Zwane in the MDC. They are a ball playing well, and I'm used to that.
"And what people can expect from me is plenty of goals, like I used to bang them in during my time at Chiefs in the Diski Challenge and Diski Shield," he concluded.
