FIFA have commented on the situation regarding Kaizer Chiefs and midfielder, Andriamirado 'Dax' Andrianarimanana, after they were contacted for an update on the matter - but what happens now?
In today's issue of Soccer Laduma, FIFA confirmed that both the club and the player have lodged their appeals, but were unable to comment any further on the case involving Amakhosi, 'Dax' and his former club, Fosa Juniors.
Chiefs' were given a two-window transfer ban for the signing of the Madagascan midfielder, while the player himself was banned from playing for four months, and both parties are trying to get their punishments either reduced or thrown out completely.
The Siya crew had previously reported that both parties had submitted their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport directly, and FIFA have now confirmed that that is the case, telling the crew, "We can confirm that the grounds of decision, passed by the Dispute Resolution Chamber on this matter on 5 December 2019, were duly notified to the parties on 6 February 2020.
"Further to this, please note the player and Kaizer Chiefs FC have subsequently lodged an appeal before CAS. As a result, please understand that we cannot comment further on the matter at this stage."
But, as reported yesterday, CAS have said that the current Coronavirus outbreak that is playing havoc in the world will mean that many cases will not be able to be heard in-person as they consider other avenues, so it remains to be seen how long the matter will take to be settled.
Chiefs hired a signature professional who concluded that the contract attributed to the midfielder was forged, however FIFA still ruled in favour of the Madagascan club, and this could well be a matter that now drags on for some time.
