Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Dominic Isaacs believes Amakhosi management should stick with coach Cavin Johnson ahead of the coaches on their five-man shortlist.
Talking in an exclusive interview to Soccer Laduma, the Cape Town based legend stated that it should all start with the players' consistency in getting results for the club than looking for a new coach.

Isaacs was discussing the five shortlisted players that the Siya crew had revealed to be linked with taking over from Johnson at the end of the season. The five coaches were Pitso Mosimane, Manqoba Mngqithi, Brazilian duo of Alexandre Gallo and Vanderlei Luxemburgo plus Spanish coach Raul Caneda.
"I don't think they need to change the coach. If it was me I would stick with coach Cavin (Johnson). He is one of the best coaches in the country. He has what it takes to change things at Chiefs. What they should do is give him six months at the begining of the season and they will see what he can do. Look at now, since he took over results are showing that something is happening. I don't think changing coaches like that would be the solution," Isaacs told Soccer Laduma.
"Nothing would change. What needs to chance is how the players respond. When I say respond I mean being consistent in their performances. As individuals Chiefs have great players but as a collective I am not sure what is happening with them. Even when they take a lead in a game they can't keep the ball and gel properly as a team. I think the problem is beyond football on the field of play.
"We should really ask ourselves what's really wrong at the team. Something is holding them back. I don't know what it is. Yes, everyone can have their own opinion but certainly there is something holding the players back. Are they good players? Yes. Are they well paid? Of course, yes."
"Is the team professional enough. Yes. But then what's the problem? That's what we should be asking ourselves and not changing coaches. They had Arthur Zwane - they changed him. They had Molefi Ntseki - they changed him. Now, what will changing coach Johnson do? No need to change the coach right now," Isaacs believes.
Meanwhile, Isaacs believes that even the two local coaches on the shortlist Manqoba Mngqithi nor Pitso Mosimane could change the team's fortunes as things stand right now.
"You bring in Manqoba (Mngqithi) who will also want to change things to suit his system? He is used to the way Mamelodi Sundowns play and it's different from Kaizer Chiefs. He has to start afresh and that will take another time. Is that what the team wants? I don't think so. Or coach Pitso (Mosimane). If he comes in he will want to overhaul the whole team and bring in new players. When will those players gel? Again I respect coach Mosimane as the best coach in this country but you haven't seen a coach on our local football who comes with the whole of his own technical team.
"About five of them. What will happen to the ones who are already at Chiefs? You see there are many things to look at before bringing in a new coach. That's why I say if it was me I would stick with Johnson and give him six months to prove that he is what the team needs though he has already done it during the time he has been there."
Now, Isaacs further explains why Johnson would be a better fit than Mngqithi or Mosimane for the current Chiefs squad.
"Look, in January he didn't just want to sign new players. He told management let's work with what we have and it's showing that he is doing something. Now it's up to the players to come to the party and do their job. The goalkeeper and the defenders are doing their jobs, keeping clean sheets but there are no goals. Where are the goals? You can't be defending an empty house," Isaacs told Soccer Laduma.
