Comments by SuperSport United goalkeeper Ricardo Goss about a national team crisis has put Kaizer Chiefs shot-stopper Fiacre Ntwari under pressure.
Bafana seemingly had a crisis after number one goalkeeper Ronwen Williams was out of the squad to face Uganda and South Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers due to injury.
In spite of not yet playing domestic matches, Bafana head coach Hugo Broos started AmaZulu shot-stopper Veli Mothwa, who made two errors that led to two goals against Uganda, in a 2-2 draw.
After Mothwa was dropped against Sudan, Orlando Pirates shot-stopper Sipho Chaine also conceded two goals, although Bafana won 3-2.

The talent pool of goalkeepers in the country has over the years been narrowed by foreign shot-stoppers, particularly in big teams, who are being more trusted over the locals.
Goss, who was behind the likes of Ugandan Denis Onyango and Zambian Kennedy Mweene, both at SuperSport and Sundowns for a number of separate years, opened a debate after suggesting that South Africa should not allow foreign goalkeepers coming to the PSL, unless they are above them in quality, to increase competition for Bafana.
Chiefs shot-stopper Bruce Bvuma was also in the Bafana picture but Broos indicated he could not select him, as new signing Ntwari was going to play ahead of him.
Discussing whether the PSL should ban foreign shot-stoppers, just like some North African leagues like Egypt and Morocco have done, to avoid a national team goalkeeper crisis, former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Innocent Mayoyo partly agreed, as he suggested a regulation to manage the issue.
"I might agree and disagree. It might not be a ban but it must be regulated. For you to invite real talent, you have to regulate it. For instance, what makes England to be one of the best, it's because there's regulation on who comes to our league," Mayoyo said on Radio 2000's Game On.

"With us, a boy who was just playing at a school in Congo there, he might come to South Africa and still make it. I don't say a ban but if it can be regulated. For instance, how can you deny a number one goalkeeper in Africa to come to your country? You can't deny that, that's quality.
"You can't just say nobody [from outside], whoever comes, let him be quality. Let him be someone who has represented his national team maybe 15 times, 20 times, then you will have less of them [goalkeepers] in that regard," Mayoyo added.
Ntwari, a Rwandan, signed for a reported R5,4 million from TS Galaxy, is yet to impress at Chiefs, as he has shown handling issues so far and conceded in both the games against Marumo Gallants and AmaZulu, with questions marks still out, on whether he is better than Bvuma or Brandon Petersen.
