Top eight was in the hands of Chiefs going into the match but they ended the season in tenth after both Polokwane City and Golden Arrows won.
"Very disappointed, in fact all I can say is well done to Cape Town Spurs, we made two mistakes and that's it. We just did not show up at all," Johnson told SuperSport after the game.
"We pushed, we tried to change, we made a few very good changes, gave the young ones (a chance)…We couldn't hold on to the ball today and that's it. We couldn't make more than five passes.
"It's the end of the season, there's another season, hopefully in the next six, seven weeks time we gonna see how we fix it.'"
When reminded about Chiefs' lowest-ever finish, Johnson replied, "It means we have to get a lot done behind the scenes regarding the players, technical staff, how we come together again to make sure we take the brand to another level.
"To make sure we compete in the next season."
