With the Africa Cup of Nations just a few weeks away, a Kaizer Chiefs player has an opportunity to sneak into the Bafana Bafana squad despite not being part of Hugo Broos' side for quite some time.
Bruce Bvuma has been included in the preliminary squad for AFCON, having made just two appearances for Amakhosi this season. His first appearance for the Soweto giants came after the recent international break, when he stepped in goal ahead of Brandon Petersen and the now suspended Itumeleng Khune against Moroka Swallows.

After keeping a clean sheet in that match, Bvuma was given another chance against Polokwane City and did not concede again as Amakhosi wrapped up another 1-0 victory with him in goal.
Now Chiefs have two more matches in 2023, against Richards Bay and Sekhukhune United, and Bvuma is likely to start yet again, meaning he will have an opportunity to impress Broos and possibly be one of the three goalkeepers going to the competition in Ivory Coast.
Bvuma has previously been part of the Bafana squad under Broos, but his lack of game time at Chiefs saw him falling out of the team, giving the likes of Ricardo Goss and Melusi Buthelezi a chance to get into the squad.

The game time also gave Bvuma a chance to finally step up and claim that number one jersey at Chiefs as his own, with Khune heading for retirement and Petersen struggling with errors in goal.
Amakhosi host Richards Bay at FNB Stadium on Saturday, looking for a third consecutive victory for the first time this season. They've shown good progress under interim coach Cavin Johnson and this is an opportunity to end a difficult year on a high.
