The football fraternity is anticipating a mouth-watering clash this afternoon between Baroka FC and Kaizer Chiefs as the two teams will be fighting for different fortunes.
Baroka are in danger of going to the relegation/promotion play-offs to save their topflight status should they lose, while Chiefs are attempting to win the league title though are under pressure from Mamelodi Sundowns who are keen to defend it and are on same number of points with them.
Having beaten Sundowns 1-0 last weekend, before losing to SuperSport United 4-1 in midweek, Baroka are a team that cannot be ruled out as yet, according to former Chiefs midfielder Junior Khanye.
"You must remember that if Baroka fail to score goals and don't win the match they are going (to the play-offs) and they know that very well. They know that it's a do or die situation and there's no second chance. If Baroka did it against a well-structured team like Sundowns why can't they do it against Kaizer Chiefs?" asked Khanye.
"Let's not fool each other, miracles can happen in this match. I've seen the statement from the SAFA Head of Referees (Abdul Ebrahim) explaining about the disallowed goal scored by Chippa (against Chiefs), but I don't agree with him. (Itumeleng) Khune – one of the goalkeepers that I respect so much for his talent and work-rate – collided with (Anthony) Akumu and went down. Let us be realistic, that should have been a goal. People might think that I am criticising Chiefs but it's about being realistic that the way they play is disappointing. I do meet fans in the street and some of them confess to me that at first they thought I was drunk but now can see what I have been saying all along," he said.
