One of the men in the dugout when Swallows caused an upset with a victory over Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday night has given a surprising assessment of the game!
Brandon Truter, head coach of the Dube Birds, described their DStv Premiership win over the Glamour Boys as "awful".
They left it until late – Joseph Mhlongo coming off the bench to slot home the only goal of the game with five minutes on the clock.
Truter was still not convinced, however, though the win added to his counterpart, Gavin Hunt's woes and piled on the pressure at Naturena.
"What an awful game, the first half, we were poor! I couldn't remember when last we had such a poor first half, even when I look at last season," Truter said after the match.
"But I think it was the excitement of playing Chiefs, especially for the first time back in the PSL (topflight). Yes we have experience, but it was the excitement. It's a new team. And the anxiousness got the better of us in the first half, but we settled down in the second half, of course. Then we believed in ourselves that we can go toe to toe and enforce our structure. We kept the ball a little bit better. They had to crack and the goal had to come."
Amakhosi turn their focus to the CAF Champions League this weekend, where they will play away in Cameroon on Sunday against PWD Bamenda in the preliminary round of the continental competition.
Hunt has so far only managed two wins in eight matches since taking over from Ernst Middendorp at the start of the season.
