Zwane Redefines The Meaning Of Quality Players

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has reacted to suggestions that the lack of quality players at the club is the reason why they are coming short this season.

Chiefs suffered their third consecutive defeat in the league after a slender 1-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns over the weekend.

Given that Amakhosi now trail table-toppers Sundowns by 22 points, there has been suggestions that the lack of quality players could be the reason for the club's struggles this season.

However, Zwane begged to differ and says it's all about the players getting used to a system and have been unfortunate to miss key players in various stages, during periods they were finding the right form.

"We do have the quality. You'll have the quality but with habits, I don't know if you understand what I'm saying," Zwane said in a press conference.

"Quality is the players that you have in your team that understand the system, individually who are talented and you know that they can easily fit in in the team of Kaizer Chiefs' calibre."So there's no doubt, there is quality. The challenges will be when you're trying to get the system going, we have been unfortunate this season," he said.

"In terms of as soon as we get it right, we'll miss two or three players due to injuries, due to unforeseen circumstances, things you can't control unfortunately.

"When you look at that we came into this game, about six senior players who are not available, you understand what I'm saying?"

The 49-year old coach carried on to allude that he has been forced somewhat to play youngsters as a result because he can't complain about senior players missing.

"When we started the season they were available, it's one of those things, should I complain? I can't complain about that. I can't come to you and say, 'But ja my senior players are not available', no, I'm a coach. We've got equally good youngsters that also played (against Sundowns)," he said.

"This is their opportunity. Some of them so far have done well for themselves and we just need to keep on encouraging them until we get it right," he concluded.
