Kaizer Chiefs' stringent image rights policy has seen them miss out on the signing of Andile Jali.

Jali could have had the honour of having turned out for South Africa's 'Big three' had it not been for Chiefs' policy on their image rights. Having turned out for Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, the 33-year-old recently revealed on Marawa Sports World that he was on the verge of penning a deal with Amakhosi; but he opted against it due to their contract stipulations.
Being a massive brand themselves, Chiefs are known to handsomely remunerate their players; however, in return, they use the image rights of the players to further amplify the Kaizer Chiefs brand, something Jali was not too keen on doing.
"The contract must be between two people. I'm playing everytime – but you want to tell me how to play, it's not possible. They had their way of doing contracts in the team that time, but I said 'no'. They approached me," he told MSW.
"That's why Kaizer Junior spoke about it because he was there. I never said 'no' to Chiefs, but their contract didn't go between the two parties. Some agreements were not good.
"At Chiefs there's a clause that your signing on fee means they own your image rights, it's not possible. So, they can't tell me my image rights is my signing on fee. It's not possible."
At present, Jali finds himself clubless after a fallout with Moroka Swallows, where he had spent one season with the Dube Birds.
