The story

The new FIFA Club World Cup trophy touched down in South Africa as part of the tournament's build-up, with Mamelodi Sundowns, hosting the trophy's first stop in Africa on Thursday.

The trophy was unveiled and warmly welcomed by club chairman Tlhopi Motsepe, the technical team, and the full squad in the presence of FIFA officials and media.

In a fantastic gesture from FIFA and Mamelodi Sundowns, the trophy was taken to Mamelodi High School, where it was proudly displayed to an enthusiastic group of students.

The event was made even more special by the presence of Downs captain Themba Zwane and Italian football legend Alessandro Nesta.
