The story

South Africa attacker, Mahlatsi Makudubela, commonly known as 'Skudu', has bid farewell to Tanzanian club, Yanga with a heartfelt message.

Skudu took to Instagram to express his "heartfelt gratitude" to his Yanga family and showed his appreciation to the club president, Hersi Ally Said, the coaching staff led by Miguel Gamondi, his teammates and close friends he made during his time in  Dar es Salaam.

The 34-year-old winger has spent a season with the Dar es Salaam-based Yanga SC after joining from Marumo Gallants in 2023, winning the Tanzania Premier League and the Federations Cup.

Skudu, who can be considered as a journeyman, having represented Orlando Pirates, Platinum Stars, Chippa United, Golden Arrows and Highlands Park, also shared a gallery of images from Yanga's trophy parade to his moments on the pitch and an artist presenting him with a framed picture of him representing the Tanzanian giants.

Here's what he wrote in his touching farewell message to Yanga SC:

"Dear Yanga Football Club, I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude to the entire @yangasc family for the love and support shown to me during my stay. Your kindness and warmth have left an indelible mark on my heart.

"To the club's leadership, particularly Mr. GSM and President Mr. Hersi @caamil_88, I extend my sincere appreciation for the faith and belief you have shown in me. Your trust has meant the world to me. What an honour to have represented such a magnificent institution.

"The technical team, led by Coach @miguelamondi, [it] has been an absolute pleasure to work with you. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from you and grow as a player. To my fellow players and friends, WHAT A DYNASTY… I say thank you for being an incredible group of talented and hardworking individuals. You are true soldiers, and I am honored to have shared the pitch with you. Keep shining, and may God bless you all," wrote the 34-year-old, who reserved some special words to the Yanga supporters who embraced him from the moment he set foot in Tanzania:

"Last but not least, to the magnificent, lovable and electrifying supporters of Yanga FC, WANANCHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII. I am forever grateful for your positive energy and love you continue showing me. You are the heartbeat of the club, and I will cherish the memories we've made together. I promise to see you again soon, added Skudu, who concluded with:

"Thank you all for making me and my family's time at Yanga FC unforgettable. I bid you farewell, but not goodbye."
