When Cristiano Ronaldo was honoured in his hometown of Madeira by having an airport named after him, a statue was also unveiled and it went viral for all the wrong reasons. However, Real Madrid have had their own one created. Have you seen it?
Ronaldo is part of an elite club, which includes the likes of Oliver Tambo and John F Kennedy, of people to have an airport named after them, and his is in his birthplace of Madeira. However, the bust of the Los Blancos star that was unveiled during the official ceremony was jaw-dropping for many people as they felt it looked more like a hideous mutation of their beloved footballer's features.
Take a look!
Although the artist who created the sculpture did his best to defend his work, it did not quieten the widespread disapproval. However, his club has now unveiled their own creation of the superstar, which has been received with a lot more positivity by the public, with some social media users even claiming it looks better than the real Ronaldo himself – whose looks have helped turn him into something of a part-time model.
