Let's take a closer look...

Podolski the billionaire

Despite his major success in business, Lukas Podolski is still playing football — plying his trade back in his birth country of Poland for Gornik Zabrze, boasting 20 goals in 77 games.

The journeyman enjoyed plenty of success playing in England, Germany, Japan, and Turkey, playing for FC Cologne, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Inter Milan, Vissel Kobe, Galatasaray and Antalyaspor.

Podolski has made the most of his high earnings during the course of his illustrious career by starting a business empire in the food industry.

After kickstarting his dessert shop, Ice Cream United in 2017, Podolski followed it up by opening his first Mangal Doner kebab shop in Cologne and he reportedly owns around 30 branches across Germany.

Podolski also had a music festival in his business portfolio. The four-day festival, Glucksgefuhle (Happy Feelings) took place on the Hockenheim F1 track, with over 80 000 guests in attendance.

His sharp eye for business has seen him raise his net worth to a reported R4.3 billion! That figure includes his career earnings as a player.
