Ex-Glamour Boy, George Lebese, detailed the positive impact coach Stuart Baxter had on his career during the peak of his playing days.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs forward played under Baxter from 2012 to 2015, winning four trophies under the tutelage of the Englishman, including two league titles.
It's safe to say that Lebese's best years at Amakhosi came under Baxter's tutelage, and in an interview with Juicy Jay on the "Beyond the Game" podcast, the 36-year-old shared why he feels the decorated veteran coach is so special.
"He's a good human, you know. He takes it beyond soccer, beyond the field. He wants to understand if you're okay or not. He wants an emotionally stable player because once your emotions are intact, you perform better, and he wanted that," said Lebese on Baxter's man-management skills.
In terms of reaching new levels as an athlete, Lebese admitted that Baxter helped to elevate his game.
"My change and transition into becoming this big player at the club came under Stuart Baxter. He helped figure out my style of play, and he nurtured that," shared Lebese, who went on to praise Baxter for how well he handled him off the pitch as well.
"We always spoke. I remember, I had an incident off the field, it was all over the papers. He pulled me aside and told me, 'This is life, you need to be strong and learn from it as well.' He helped me become the person that I am," stated Lebese in his chat with Juicy Jay.
