The story
Shortly after left-back Fawaaz Basadien completed a move to reigning Betway Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns, the baller was allowed to open himself up to his new club's fans.
The Bafana Bafana international had long been linked with a transfer to one of the league's big three after impressive performances over his three seasons at Stellies, where he made over 100 appearances, netted eight goals, and registered 18 assists.
Basadien's rise at Stellenbosch also earned him regular call-ups to the national team under coach Hugo Broos, where he hopes to cement his spot further now that he's with Masandawana.
In a "Get To Know The Player" video shared by Sundowns' Instagram page, Basadien was asked a range of quick-fire questions about himself, football and other Sundowns-related enquiries.
The Capetonian described himself as humble and named Cristiano Ronaldo as his football idol growing up, with Teko Modise as his favourite Sundowns player of all time.
He named the newly crowned 2024/25 Betway Premiership Player of the Season and Players' Player of the Season, Lucas Ribeiro Costa, as the best Downs baller he's faced and named the Brazilian as the player he’s most excited the play with.
