The story

Edward "Magents" Motale, the former captain of the 1995 CAF Champions League-winning Orlando Pirates side has shared a light-hearted story about his former teammate, Pitso Mosimane.

Both Motale and Mosimane earned their big breaks at Jomo Cosmos, with the former crediting "Jingles" for getting into Cosmos' starting line-up.

"He's the one who made me play at Cosmos, he was that person," stated Magents on the "iDiski Dine" podcast with OBI Knows and former Pirates captain, Happy Jele.

The Tshwane-born legendary full-back how he wanted to make a statement in training putting in some crunching tackles on his Cosmos teammates, with one of his challenges resulting in Pitso shedding tears.

"I just wanted to send a message to say, 'I'm around,'" said Magents, who recalled what Pitso said after to Jomo Sono after his brutal tackles.

"'Let this man play please, he's hurting us. This man, he's injuring the wrong people,' that's how he motivated Jomo to play me. So, he's that person. I made him cry, you guys see him at Sundowns, I made him cry back in the day," shared Magents.

Afterwards, the 58-year-old mentioned that he was not shocked by Pitso's progression in football as a coach, with the 60-year-old etching his name as one of Mzansi's most illustrious and well travelled coaches.

"For me, it came as no surprise or fluke that he [Mosimane] coached at that level. He's got the passion, he's a hard worker," said Magents.
