The story

It's been a period of reflection and plenty of family time for experienced striker, Dino Ndlovu since his return to Mzansi from Türkiye last year.

Ndlovu has been without a club since parting ways with Sakaryaspor at the end of the 2023/24 campaign, having made a success of his time abroad for over a decade.

In his conversation with Robert Marawa, the ex-Mamelodi Sundowns star spoke about the challenges of fatherhood and how he's embracing being a house husband.

"I'm a house husband," noted Dino with a rye smile after being asked about what he's currently doing. "[It is] quite challenging, tricky. Because for the past 12 years I haven't had the time to be a father, brother, husband, a son to all my family, so everyday I have to takeover the errands, chores from my loved ones to ease the burden," he added.

Ndlovu, who's been quite the journeyman in his professional career, representing clubs in Cyprus, Azerbaijan, Israel, China and Türkiye.

When asked about how he's adjusting to normalcy of living with his family in his home country again, Dino responded, "I'm taking it one day at a time. It's been an overwhelming couple of months and moments. I think I've got a really supportive structure with my wife and my mom.

"They've brought me down [to earth] and sat with me to give me their input on what I can do to make their lives easier. When it comes to my kids, it's the most joyful part any father can have. Because, taking them to school, helping them with homework, going to their extra-mural activities, sports, it's put me in some kind of pedestal to say, 'I've missed this," shared Ndlovu on Marawa Sports Worldwide.

The 33-year-old admitted to finding it rewarding but also daunting to help mold a human being. "Everyday when they make mistakes and they ask me questions, I'm able to play that role and advise them without any criticism from my side as a father, has helped me to learn that I'm teaching another human being, to be an actual human being. So, it's been an overwhelming time for me."
