Bafana Vs Banyana: Who Has The Better Alt. Le Coq Kit?

Bafana Vs Banyana: Who Has The Better Alt. Le Coq Kit?

After Le Coq Sportif released Bafana Bafana's Alternate kit for next year's Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), we compare its design to the Banyana Banyana version.

Check it out!

What's the story?

Last week, SAFA's technical sponsor Le Coq Sportif revealed Bafana Bafana's Alternate kit for the 2024 AFCON in the Ivory Coast kicking-off in January.

Although the kit follows the same design template as the Banyana one we saw at 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup — we analyse which kit does the Le Coq design justice.

Let's take a closer look...

Banyana Vs Bafana: Which alt. kit is better?

Bafana Bafana's Alternate kit for next year's AFCON has been unveiled, following the same template as Banyana's "History Maker" kit worn at this year's Women's World Cup.

Le Coq Sportif unveiled a predominately white and grey kit — an alternative uniform for Hugo Broos' troops as they aim to make history in the continental tournament to be hosted by the Ivory Coast.

This kit moves away departure from the traditional green and gold strips that we've seen from Le Coq since they started working with SAFA.

The Special edition Bafana Bafana #AFCON24 alternate kit will be available for purchase by the public on 20 December, with the kit following the same understated theme seen on Banyana's black and gold alternate and green Away kits.

The only thing that separates Bafana and Banyana's alternate kits is the colours. The Banyana version is an instant hit, a black kit with touches of grey and gold on the jersey.

The gold perfectly symbolises Banyana's winning mentality which led to them winning the Women's AFCON in 2022, and their unforgettable run at the Women's World Cup, where they reached the knockout stages for the first time in the global showpiece.

Bafana's Alternate kit has no pop of flavour like the Banyana strip, which displays the SAFA and Protea badges in colour, with Le Coq keeping those badges black and white for Bafana.

Although both kits are aesthetically pleasing, the colour schemes used on the Banyana kit are simply remarkable. Black and gold always makes for an intimidating and timeless look for a sport team.

The Alternate Bafana could be debuted in their AFCON opener against Mali on 16 January, as Mali are listed as the home team and their Home kit is yellow, like Bafana's.

Although there are mixed reactions to SAFA's continued partnership with Le Coq Sportif, the French sportswear brand has arguably released their best national team kits this year.
