CAF Confederation Cup
Result: SuperSport United 0-0 TP Mazembe
Date: 20 June 2017
Venue: Lucas Moripe Stadium
SuperSport United managed to clinch a point against the CAF Confederation Cup champions, TP Mazembe after the two sides played out a 0-0 draw at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
These two sides met two weeks ago, with SuperSport coming from behind to clinch a 2-2 draw.
The Congolese outfit got off to the better start just as they did on match day three, as they enjoyed a lot of the possession in the opening exchanges.
Mazembe continued to dominate as the opening stanza went on, but they failed carve out any clear-cut chances in the opening 25 minutes.
SuperSport, on the other hand, failed to offer much going forward and lacked creativity in the final third.
That proved to be the trend for the rest of half, as the score remained goalless at the halftime break.
Stuart Baxter introduced Jeremy Brockie at the start of the second half, with the injured Onismor Bhasera making way.
The home side looked little livelier upon resumption of the second half, but they were finding it tough to carve out clear-cut openings.
With both sides struggling to get the break through, SuperSport introduced Kingston Nkhatha, while Mazembe brought on Adam Traore after 70 minutes.
Both sides pushed for a winning goal in the closing stages, although SuperSport looked the more likely to break the deadlock in the closing stages.
However, neither side could find the all important goal and were forced to share the spoils just as they did on match day three in Congo.
Here's how they lined up:
SuperSport: Williams, Kekana, Gould, Daniels, Bhasera (Brockie 46'), Letsholonyane, Mokoena, Modiba, Phala, Mnyamane, Grobler (Nkhatha 69').
