CAF Confederation Cup

Result: Orlando Pirates 4-1 AS Kaloum (6-1 on aggregate)

Date: 06 June 2015

Venue: Bidvest Stadium

Orlando Pirates progressed to the CAF Confederation Cup group stages after thumping AS Kaloum 4-1 in their second leg tie at the Bidvest Stadium.

Both sides looked lively in the opening exchanges, although it was the visitors who managed to create a couple of openings in the opening 15 minutes.

Pirates eventually broke the deadlock with their first chance in the 21st minute, as Thamsanqa Gabuza skipped past the on-rushing Youssuf Toure before picking out Kermit Erasmus, who slotted home into the far corner.

The visitors did have their moments in the opening 45 minutes and looked particularly lively down the left flank.

And they should have leveled matters in the 36th minute, as Alseny 'Agogo' Camara skipped past two defenders but ended up blasting wide from inside the area.

The home side's lead should have been doubled in the 41st minute when Thabo Matlaba picked out Erasmus in the six-yard area, however the striker managed to head wide.

Eric Tinkler's men went even closer just before the halftime break, as Thabo Rakhale collected a pass from Erasmus before rattling the upright from close range.

The visitors managed to level matters a minute after the halftime break, as Alseny 'Agogo' Camara lost his marker before heading the ball into the far corner.

However, Pirates restored their lead in the 52nd minute when Gabuza tapped home from close range, after a goal-mouth scramble.

It got better for Gabuza and Pirates in the 59th minute, as the strike latched onto a pass from Oupa Manyisa, before slotting in at the near post.

Tinkler's side managed to add a fourth in the 76th minute, as Manyisa picked out Sifiso Myeni with a sublime pass and the winger volleyed past a helpless Toure.

Pirates managed to see out the rest of the game with relative ease, and entertained the crowd in the last few minutes, and secured their passage into the group stages, winning the tie 6-1 on aggregate.

Here's how they lined up:

Orlando Pirates: Mhlongo, Mahamutsa, Jele, Nyauza, Matlaba, Sarr, Manyisa, Rakhale, Myeni, Erasmus, Gabuza

AS Kaloum: Toure, Bangoura, Camara, Banh (C), Camara, Sylla, Konte, Kouyate, Diawara, Camara, Kassango
